Shadow Track 3: Patience

shadow tracking

If fear is wetting your pants… 😳

And courage is doing what you have to do with wet pants on… 👖💦

Then patience is like waiting for your pants to dry before taking the next step! 🕚🕜🕒🕕🕖🕘👟👟

Just as fear and courage are emotional responses to challenging situations, patience is a virtue that helps us endure delays, setbacks, or uncertainties without giving up or losing hope.

Patience requires self-control, perseverance, and a willingness to accept things as they are.

Rather than trying to force them to happen on our own timeline.

Just as waiting for wet pants to dry may not be comfortable or convenient, but is necessary to move forward, practicing patience can lead to greater resilience, peace of mind, and success in the long run.

But let's be real, waiting for something can be one of the hardest things we do.

The waiting game can be tough.

Whether it's waiting for that promotion, for traffic to clear, or for your kids to finally get ready to walk out the door—when it comes to tracking the shadow, patience is a crucial third step.

Now that we're nourished with sweetness from step one.

And have studied our shadow by being cunning in step two.

To take the third step of becoming more aware of our shadow and how it operates, we must patiently wait for its sneaky reappearance, as it tends to remain hidden and dormant when seen or acknowledged.

But by being patient and persistent…

We can eventually bring it to the surface and work with it.

It's like waiting for a pimple to be ready to pop—you can't rush it, but you can provide the right conditions for it to develop and when it does finally pop, it's a beautiful (and disgusting) thing to see! 😅

Remember, patience is a learned skill.

While some people may be naturally more patient than others, patience can also be cultivated.

It involves building the capacity to tolerate discomfort, uncertainty, and obstacles with grace and resilience.

Patience requires practice.

Its not something that happens overnight.

It requires consistent effort, often in small and incremental steps.

On a somatic level—using the Emotional Express and Release Tools can support the discharge of anxiety, discomfort, and excess energy.

By deliberately choosing to practice patience in everyday situations, we can build the mental and emotional muscles needed to sustain it over time.

Patience can have many benefits:

  • Manage stress
  • Improve relationships
  • Make better decisions
  • Lead to greater satisfaction and fulfillment in life, as we learn to appreciate the journey rather than focusing solely on the destination

Patience does not mean inaction.

While patience involves waiting and enduring delays, it does not mean that we should sit idle or avoid taking action when needed.

Rather, patience involves discerning when it is appropriate to act and when it is better to wait, and then proceeding with intention and purpose.

So let's be patient with ourselves and our shadows.

Let's create the opportunity for growth and transformation.
